Kick Start Your Career Employability Skills workshops in Ryde
As part of National Youth Week, the City of Ryde in consultation with Ryde Youth Council, supported 2realise to deliver two Kick Start Your Career Workshops to assist young people to gain insight, knowledge and skills required to assist them to successfully find part time or full time employment.
The workshops incorporated a number of sessions that focused on building the attitude, skills and knowledge required to be a valuable employee. Our workshops focused on empowerment and up-skilling to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
The participants spent time exploring the following areas:
Brand 2.0 – Exploring what a personal brand is.
Resumes that get read – Resume outlines, content and presentation
Pick Me! – Interview Skills and expectations including a careers panel with Mason Smith (4RRR) Michael Paine (City of Ryde Council) and Kathryn Bailey (2realise).
Feedback indicated that every participant took away some new knowledge or tips! The careers panel provided vital input into discussions and were able to assist with answering questions about their own experience in the work force- especially that first job!
“I learnt different interview skills and how to prepare a resume.”
“It was a very fun session. It allowed us to find out about a lot of things.”
“This was the most helpful as I was introduced to writing a resume and what information to put on and the order to do so.”
All participants rated the session at least 4 out of 5 with 7 out of 10 indicating they would like to attend another 2realise our career session (3 said maybe).
